Matir Projar Deshe withdrawn from Dhaka International Film Festival!
The critically acclaimed film "Matir Projar Deshe", which won the Best Film Award in the Chicago South Asian Film Festival 2016 along with other accolades, has been withdrawn from Dhaka International Film Festival a day before the event. "We have no complaints against the authority as they were very helpful," said Bijon, the director of the film. "However, when we went to test the day before the festival, we saw that they were using normal multimedia projectors to showcase the films. The screens were also too small. The aspect ratio was completely jumbled up, and we did not want to have our first premiere in Bangladesh in this way. The purpose of the film is to make the audience feel emotions, and we felt that such screening defeats the purpose". The film was produced by Md. Arifur Rahman, who was offered to keep the film in the competition despite the withdrawal but he promptly refused.
