DPS STS School Dhaka celebrates its first online graduation ceremony
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, DPS STS School Dhaka has recently celebrated its Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2020 virtually over an online platform. Principal Madhu Wal and outgoing founding principal Harsh Wal of DPS STS School Dhaka attended the ceremony. They were accompanied by STS Board members, teachers, globally renowned educators and the 81 Graduating students of class of 2020.
A pool of renowned educators from all over the globe shared their greetings for the graduates of DPS STS School Dhaka on their graduation day. Maria Chavez, Community Biology Initiative, MIT Media Lab; Sarah M. Whiting, Dean and Josep Lluís Sert, Professor of Architecture, Graduate School of Design, Harvard University; Carolyn Angleton, Biohacker, Community Biology Initiative, MIT Media Lab; Thomas Hervé Mboa Nkoudou, Open Science & Hardware leader, Africa, Researcher, Université Laval, Quebec City, Canada; Faith A. Wong, Coach, Speaker & Trainer, Education Ministry, Malaysia Govt; Xavier Palmer, Biologik Labs, Norfolk, Virginia; Florence Tan, Lecturer, Segi College, Malaysia; Ivon Lim, Former Programme Leader FOB (Faculty of Business), Malaysia; Dr. Linda Guamán, Scientist, Ecuador; Linda Tivendale, Senior Lecturer in Construction Management, Course Director – Construction Management (Postgraduate), School of Architecture & Built Environment, Deakin University; and Sharon Alvina, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Business, Segi College, Malaysia attended the online graduation ceremony.
The virtual Ceremony commenced with a warm welcome by the Head of English Department followed by an enlightening speech of principal Madhu Wal. In her speech, she stated, "This is an incredibly special day for us, and we cheerfully celebrate this day every year. This year we are doing this online for the ongoing global pandemic. But we are still ecstatic and delighted to bid farewell to the graduating students, especially with the greetings of all these international educators. Today will be a memorable day in the history of our school commemorating the first online graduation. I wish my best to the students and hope they will carry the legacy of this institution."
Dihan Mashroor Niloy, student of Grade 12, was honoured as "Valedictorian of the Batch" for attaining the highest cumulative GPA in Grades 11-12 and number 1 rank in the Cambridge AS Level Board Exam results among DPS students with the highest academic performance average of 94 percent.
After the speech ceremonies, the graduation commemoration ceremony commenced. Out of the 81 students of Batch 19-20, 68 received Graduation Certificates and 13 received School Completion Certificates. An online cultural show followed consisting of a dance and song performance by DPS Music and Dance teachers, along with inspirational messages for the graduating batch given by the Academic Faculty of DPS STS School Dhaka. The programme concluded with a batch video made by the students of Grade 12 followed by the Declaration of Graduation by the outoing founding principal, Harsh Wal.
