The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Annual Student Conference (ASC) is organised by the AIChE Central Student Leaders under the direct guidance and supervision of the AIChE administration. Students from hundreds of universities from around the world participate in this conference. It intends to recognise and appreciate the intellectual and creative abilities, academic-research achievements, and development-leadership skills of the students as chapters, teams, and individuals.

ASC-2022 was held between November 11 and 14 in Phoenix, Arizona. The Student Awards Ceremony was indeed a remarkable time for BUET AIChE Student Chapter as BUET students won multiple prestigious awards.

Champion/1st Place (Judges' Choice): Global Undergraduate Student Video Competition 2022

This global competition recognises the creativity and imagination of students. It is organised annually by the AIChE Young Professionals Community with funding from the AIChE Foundation.

There were six student members captained by Abir Mahmud Rishad in the champion team, "Decarbonizer". Behind the winning team, there was also a mentoring team led by student chapter advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr Md. Iqbal Hossain.

Outstanding Student Chapter Award 2022 (International Category)

This award is the most prestigious for a student chapter. It rewards the exceptional performances and achievements of a student chapter over an entire year. Winners are selected carefully by an international panel of experts from academia and industries. The award also reorganises the merited works of the student leadership body and chapter advisor.

Donald F. & Mildred Topp Othmer Scholarship Award for the 2021-2022 Session

This is another highly prestigious international award for individual students. Only a few awards are given to selected students from 400 student chapters for their academic excellences and achievements.  Md. Farhatul Abrar Ananda is the first ever student from Bangladesh to win this award.

Kazi Araf Sayeed, President of the BUET chapter of AIChe, said, "The primary goal was to win the Annual Outstanding Student Chapter award which is the highest recognition for an AIChE student chapter. Throughout the year our aim was to co-ordinate the executive team and lead the chapter in its various activities – arranging seminars and international competitions, outreach, K-12, and working with sister chapter programs. I would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the whole Executive Team, the support of our faculty members and the constant guidance of our student chapter advisor."

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) is the world's leading professional organisation for chemical engineers with more than 60,000 professional members from more than 110 countries. AIChE is regarded as the global home of chemical engineers. It is also a prestigious platform for chemical engineering undergraduate and postgraduate students for various academic, skill development and leadership activities.

AIChE has around 400 student chapters which are grouped into domestic and international categories.  BUET AIChE Student Chapter is one of the AIChE International Student Chapters, it is operated under BUET's Chemical Engineering department.

BUET AIChE Student Chapter gratefully acknowledges the support from Department of Chemical Engineering-BUET, BUET Chemical Engineering Alumni Association, Faculty of Engineering-BUET, Directorate of Students' Welfare-BUET, and BUET Administration.
