Shilpakala Academy organises film festival
Bangladesh Film Society Movement and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy have jointly organised a nine-day film festival as a part of the yearlong golden jubilee celebrations programme.
The festival began yesterday at the National Theatre Hall and National Art Gallery Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the city. Eminent poet and novelist Syed Shamsul Haque inaugurated the festival. The film festival features over 20 Bangladeshi films and documentaries and six foreign films.
The festival includes Tareque Masud's “Matir Moyna”, Tanvir Mokammel's “Chitra Nadir Parey”, Sheikh Niyamat Ali and Masiuddin Shaker's “Surja Dighal Bari”, Nurul Alam Atik's “Duub Satar”, Alamgir Kabir's “Surja Kannya”, Badal Rahman's “Emiler Goenda Bahini”, Morshedul Islam's “Chaka” and others.
In addition, six foreign films will be screened: Satyajit Ray's “Pather Pachali”, Mrinal Sen's “Akaler Sandhane”, Ritwik Ghatak's “Meghe Dhaka Tara”, Mikhail Kalatozov's “Cranes are Flying”, Vittorio De Sica's “Bicycle Thief” and Akira Kurosawa's “Rashomon”.
