Sheikh Hasina Nat'l Burn Institute to treat Covid-19 patients
The government has decided to use Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital's Chankharpul for treatment of coronavirus patients.
A letter about the decision issued by the health ministry has reached the hospital a few days ago, Dr Samanta Lal Sen, coordinator of the institute, told The Daily Star.
"We are working on it as per the decision. Currently two wards at eighth and ninth floors of the hospital are being prepared for treatment of coronavirus patients," he said.
Treatment of around 50-60 coronavirus patients will be possible at the two wards, he added.
He further said that there would be different arrangements of elevators and stairs for burn and coronavirus patients.
Dhaka Medical College and Hospital Director Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin told The Daily Star that primarily two wards, SDO supports and several cabins of the institute are being prepared for this purpose.
"We hope we can shift Covid-19 patients of Dhaka Medical College Hospital to the institute by Saturday," he said.
Nurses and doctors from the DMCH would treat the patients at the burn institute and also support from the doctors and nurses at the institute would be taken, he added.
