SCBA wants EC to resign

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Secretary AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon at a press conference yesterday demanded that the Election Commission resign immediately for, what he said, failing to hold Saturday's upazila elections in a free and fair manner.
The SCBA leader also demanded cancellation of the election results of the upazilas where violence, irregularities, vote rigging and snatching of ballot papers took place.
Silent role of the law enforcers and officials' assistance to those behind such incidents, and the EC's inaction and failure to take appropriate steps against the incidents have disappointed the whole nation, Mahbub Uddin said.
