'Robber' killed in ‘gunfight’ with Jhenidah cops

An alleged robber was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenidah early today.

Police identified the deceased as Motiar Rahman alias Mamun, 42, of Harinakundu upazila of the district, reports our Jhenidah correspondent.

Mamun was jailed for 17 years for killing a police constable, Hadek Ali, in 2011, said Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station.

He was also accused in at least six extortion and robbery cases, the OC added.
