Road crashes kill five, injure four

Five people were killed and four others injured in road accidents in the country yesterday.

Our Munshiganj correspondent reports, four people were killed and four others injured when a corn-laden truck tumbled onto a rickshaw and two CNG-run auto-rickshaws near Jamaldi bus stand on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj. Two of the four dead were identified as Kalu Mian, 38, and Montu, 16.

Our Khulna correspondent adds, a battery-run auto-rickshaw driver, Nosu Matobbar, 50, of Khulna city, died after a truck of Zinnat Cargo Service hit the vehicle in Raily Gate area on Khulna-Jessore highway.

Police seized the truck but the driver escaped.
