Road crashes kill 8
Eight people were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents in the country yesterday and Wednesday.
Our staff correspondent reports, Tarikul Islam, 22, security guard of Meghna Model Service Centre, died after a bus ran him over before Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in the capital yesterday.
Our Moulvibazar correspondent reports, two of a family were killed and a rickshaw puller was injured when a truck rammed the vehicle carrying them on Moulvibazar-Samshernagar road in Sadar upazila of the district yesterday.
The dead were Ijjot Ali, 48, a night guard, and his son Tofajjol Miah, 22, of Habiganj.
Our Chittagong correspondent adds, a truck driver was killed and his helper injured when two trucks collided head-on at Nunachhara in Sitakunda upazila yesterday.
The deceased was Jewel, aged about 30. Injured Nobir was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Our Dinajpur correspondent reports, two persons were killed and three others injured when an oncoming tractor hit the battery-run three-wheeler carrying them at Madarganj in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The dead were Akram Hossain, 45, of Boro-Gurgola, and Mostafizur Rahman, 50, of Dinajpur Satellite Town. The injured were rushed to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.
Our Brahmanbaria correspondent adds, Nipa Akter, 20, daughter of Konu Mia of Dakkin Poirtal, died after a truck ran her over on town bypass highway at Phulbaria village in Brahmanbaria municipality yesterday.
Agitated locals vandalised several vehicles, including the truck, in protest.
A case was filed.
A Bhola correspondent adds, a helper of a locally-assembled three-wheeler, Ibrahim, 26, died after he fell from the vehicle when it veered out of control near Dalalbari intersection in Char Fasson upazila on Wednesday.
