Ranjeeta overcomes her disability
RANJEETA (32) suffered from typhoid when she was only eight and a student of class three. Her parents did their best for her treatment. Unfortunately, the deadly disease paralyzed her right leg and she gradually became a person with disabilities (PWD).
Ranjeeta did not lose her hope. She managed to convince her family to continue with her study and finally got B.Com degree. She had a mind that she would get a suitable job after completion of graduation. But it did not happen so. Employers were not willing to give her a job. Ranjeeta changed her strategy to win disability. She opened a coaching center and got several students there.
Her position in the family improved when she was able to provide financial support. By that time she met an NGO volunteer who inspired her to organise a group of disable people. Ranjeeta successfully did that and named her group as Ashar Michil (March of Hope) with 24 PWDs. Now she is the treasurer of the group. The group meets weekly and promotes savings for the members.
Ranjeeta took Taka 8000 as SME loan from the Improved Food and Livelihood Security (IFLS) Project and started a grocery shop. It is running very well. She now enjoys an esteemed status in her community. They call her didi and come to take advice. Ranjeeta had a dream of a decent life. It has come true. She has overcome her disability.
