Rana Plaza owner gets HC bail

The High Court today granted a six-month bail to Sohel Rana, owner of Savar's Rana Plaza that collapsed on April 24 last year killing more than at least 1,135 people.
Sohel cannot get released from jail since he is accused in the other case, Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Md Selim told The Daily Star.
He secured the bail in a case filed for constructing the building without the approval of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) and in violation of the national building code.
The government will move an appeal before the Supreme Court challenging the HC order of bail, the DAG said.
Savar Pourasava authorities and police filed the cases with Savar Model Police Station on April 24 and 25 last year.
