President wants ensuring standard
President Abdul Hamid yesterday laid emphasis on taking appropriate measures to increase the standard of higher education to international level in all the universities of the country.
He made the remark when a 10-member delegation of the Chittagong University led by its Vice Chancellor Prof Anwarul Azim Arif called on him at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, the delegation apprised the president, who is also chancellor of the university, of various activities of CU.
They informed Hamid that currently there are eight faculties and 43 departments in the university.
They also apprised him of the progress of the construction of Sheikh Hasina Hall which is likely to be completed by June.
The delegation raised some of problems of the university, including transport and accommodation.
Hamid expressed satisfaction over the activities of the university and assured the delegation of his overall cooperation to solve the problems.
Secretaries concerned of the president office were present.
