Two years of Khaleda’s jail term: BNP announces rally on Saturday
The BNP will hold a rally in Dhaka city and stage demonstrations across the country on Saturday marking two years of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s imprisonment.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, secretary general of the party, announced the programme tonight after a meeting at the Gulshan office of Khaleda Zia.
Talking to journalists, Fakhrul said BNP will hold a rally in front of its Nayapaltan central office at 2:00pm on the day demanding Khaleda’s release from jail.
They will also stage demonstrations in district towns across the country to press home their demand, he said.
Khaleda has been behind bars since February 8, 2018 after a special court jailed her in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
Later, she was found guilty in another graft case.
