Dr Syeda Zakia Nur, daughter of Syed Nazrul Islam, the first acting president of the country, today submitted the nomination papers to contest the Kishoreganj-1 by-election slated for February 28.

Nur got the Awami League nomination for the constituency after it fell vacant following the death of AL lawmaker Syed Ashraful Islam, also her elder brother, on January 3, just three days after the December 30 general elections.
