HC asks BNP leader Aman to surrender in 6 weeks
The High Court (HC) today directed BNP leader Aman Ullah Aman to surrender in six weeks before a lower court concerned in a case filed over issuing death threat to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The court also asked the law enforcers not to harass or arrest Aman in six weeks in connection with the case.
The HC bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Md Kamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order after hearing a petition filed by Aman seeking bail in the case.
Advocate Zainul Abedin and Advocate Sagir Hossain Leon appeared for Aman while Deputy Attorney General Aminul Islam represented the government.
AB Siddique, president of Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad, a pro-Awami League organisation, filed the case with a Dhaka court on August 5 saying that Hafizur Rahman Rana, an expelled teacher of BUET, sent him a letter on July 25 saying that Sheikh Hasina will be killed by the Islamic State (IS) on August 15.
