Police today arrested another accused of a case filed in connection with killing of Buet student Abrar Fahad, who was brutally killed allegedly by Bangladesh Chhara League on Monday night.

The arrestee, Moyaj Abu Hurayra, 20, is a student of batch 17 of electrical and electronics department in Buet, said Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Moyaj was arrested by a team of detective Branch of Police around 11:00am today from Uttara’s sector 14 area in Dhaka, Masudur said while talking to The Daily Star.

His name was mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR).

With Moyaj, the law enforcement agencies have so far arrested a total of 19 people in this connection.

Abrar, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering department of Buet, died after he was brutally beaten allegedly by some BCL men at a room of the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall.

Later, his father father Barkat Ullah filed a case with Chawkbazar Police Station.

The incident triggered a firestorm of protest that dished out all most all educational institutes across the country. Apart from this, many people took to the social media demanding justice for Abrar Fahad.

Law enforcers suspect, Abrar was attacked because of one of his recent Facebook posts, which seemed critical of some recent deals with India.
