NRB organisation wins human rights award in Spain
Asociación Valiente Bangla, a human rights organisation run by Bangladeshis in Spain and its founding president Mohammad Fazle Elahi, have won the "Human Rights Health Award 2021" for human welfare.
San Camilo Health Humanisation, an international organisation working on human rights and healthcare in Spain, presented the award at a programme at the La Salle University campus in Madrid on October 27.
San Camilo Centre Director Jose Carlos Bermejo hosted the award ceremony and Christina Monius presided over the programme.
This is the first time any Bangladeshi organisation in Spain has won the award.
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic till now, Asociación Valiente Bangla has helped migrants in getting work and provided them with food, healthcare, and support.
Eight individuals and organisations received the award for establishing equal rights for all.
In addition, Bangladeshi human rights activist Manik Byapari was awarded for his work as an interpreter for humanitarian work in Valiante.
Every year San Camilo Health Humanisation organises this event honouring successful people in different parts of Spain, who have contributed to the development of the country in their own way.
"We are working for undocumented migrants and their rights and also for those with documents who require support. This invaluable honour will undoubtedly inspire us," said Fazle Elahi, president of Asociación Valiente Bangla.
