BOC Bangladesh Ltd was rebranded as Linde Bangladesh Ltd yesterday with an eye on a more market share in the country.
Linde Group, Germany's industrial gases and engineering company, acquired UK-based competitor BOC Group in 2006.
The rebranding in Bangladesh is part of Linde's global programme to unite the companies under the brand, Erphan Shehabul Matin, managing director of Linde Bangladesh, said in a press briefing at Hotel Radisson in Dhaka.
"We are proud to become Linde in Bangladesh and with the strong support from our parent company, we will continue to introduce and deliver innovative and technology-led solutions that will add superior value to our customers' businesses," he said.
Bernd Eulitz, regional business head of Linde Gas, South and East Asia, said: "Linde is very positive about the market opportunities we see in Bangladesh."

The company's facilities include a welding electrode factory capable of producing 23,100 tonnes of welding electrodes a year. Its three air separation plants -- one in Rupganj, Narayanganj and two in Shitalpur, Sitakunda -- are capable of producing 80 tonnes a day of liquid ASU gases.
Earlier this year, the company brought on stream a new carbon dioxide plant in Tejgaon and its new third electrode production line in Rupganj. It is now proceeding to build in a fourth electrode production line also in Rupganj, which will be ready by January 2013.
"Linde is committed to expanding our business in Bangladesh. And we will continue to invest to ensure we are well-positioned to support our existing and potential new customers in their growth plans, both now and in the future," said Eulitz.
The annual turnover of the company was Tk 300 crore last year.
"We are very positive about Bangladesh's manufacturing and industrial growth. We are positive about the economy. So, we are looking at more business growth in Bangladesh," said Eulitz.
Its product folio and services include liquid and gaseous oxygen and nitrogen, argon, acetylene, carbon dioxide, dry ice, refrigerant gases, lamp gas and other gas mixtures, medical oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical equipment and accessories, welding electrodes, gas and arc welding equipment and accessories, welding training and services.
