Sylhet BCL activist sues 17 rival men over Monday's clash

An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League's Sylhet district unit yesterday sued 17 fellow men, including a leader, over Monday's factional clash at MC College.

Rubel Ahmed filed the case with Shahporan Police Station, accusing them of attacking the activists of the faction he belongs to.

Among the sued is Raihan Chowdhury, general secretary of Sylhet district unit of BCL.

Police said the supporters of Raihan and Kamrul Islam, joint secretary of the unit, clashed to establish supremacy at MC College.

At least 15 activists were injured, some of them by bullets.

Nizam Uddin, officer-in-charge of Shahporan Police Station, said they would take action against those sued.

President of Sylhet district BCL Abdus Samad told The Daily Star that the attackers would be punished.
