Relative held over woman killing

Police yesterday arrested a relative of the woman who was strangled to death in Roufabad area of Chittagong city on Saturday.

The arrestee was Abdullah Al Mamun, 22, son of the elder brother of Nurul Alam, the husband of the deceased Parveen Akter. Alam filed a case on Monday.

In a primary investigation police found Mamun's involvement, said Syed Faruk Ahmed, sub-inspector of Bayezid Bostami police.

A Chittagong court placed Mamun on a three-day remand yesterday afternoon, he added.
