Chayanika embarks on her 100th TV play “Choloman Chhobi”

Chayanika Chowdhury

"'Choloman Chhobi' is a story about the Liberation War, " said Chayanika, director of the play. "The central character of the play, Mahfuz Ahmed, talks to his 10 -year -old boy about those turbulent times. The direction of the film is uncommon as it mainly shows the central character. At places, the voices of Bipasha Hayat, Aupee Karim, Tarin and Arefin Shubho have been inserted."
"Although the TV play is about a very serious issue, it also includes the emotions of the surrounding people," she added.
"The screenplay is by Arun Chowdhury and camera work by Raihan Khan. It will be shot from November 22 in Dhaka, and then it will be shot in Rangamati, etc."
Seventeen artistes-Apurbo, Bindu, Prabha, Badhon, Hillol, Irish Zakir, Noushin, Aerfin Shubho, Tomalika, Tazin, Tinni, among others, appear in one shot. It was basically Prabha's idea to celebrate a 100th drama with a typical subcontinental kind of celebrity mix, " asserted Chayanika.
"I am always learning," she said. "As I had been involved with the media since the age of three-- through recitals, Rabindra Sangeet in Chhayanaut where I got a first division or through my husband, Arun, a well-known director and also the writer of this TV play--, the experience was not new to me when I started directing in 2001."
"Bhab jekhane probol, Bhasha shekhane durbol,"(where emotion is dominant language is feeble) she quoted Rabindranath to explain how she felt about directing throughout her career." I have nurtured all my TV plays from 2001 to 2009 with as much love and affection I had put in my first drama.”
Chayanika thanks Mujibur Rahman of Light and Shade, Zaidan Rabbi., MD of Ad Media. "They were the people who helped me from the beginning of my career. "She also expressed her gratitude to Mahfuz, Bipasha, Afsana Mimi, Aupee and Tareen who were by her side from the very beginning, putting the "glitz behind my name from early on".
Although her first directorial venture was 'Shesh Belai' (in 2001), her first TV play, 'Ek Jibon-e' went on air on October 28, 2002. Imdadul Haq Milon wrote most of her TV plays (20), the most seen actor was Apurbo (in 45 plays) and among the actresses it was Tarin who did the most dramas (24).
Chayanika clearly recalls all the important milestones in her life and all the people she has encountered along the way. "I remember two things and erase two things every morning when I wake up. I remember to thank God and to thank all the people who have made a difference in my life. And I erase the thoughts of whom I have helped or who had done me wrong," she concluded.
