BSF hands over 39 Bangladeshis to BGB through Meherpur border

The Border Security Force (BSF) of India handed over 39 Bangladeshis through the Kazipur border in Meherpur's Gangni upazila today.
They were handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at a flag meeting between company commanders of BGB and BSF this afternoon.
Gangni Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Saddam Hossain and Officer-in-Charge of Gangni Police Station Md Bani Israil were present during the handover.
Lt Col Md Mahbub Murshed Rahman, commander of BGB Battalion-47 in Kushtia, confirmed the handover in a press statement. Among the returnees, 28 are men, nine are women, and two are children.
According to the statement, the company commander of Gandina camp under India's Battalion-11 BSF sent a proposal to repatriate the Bangladeshis to BGB's Kazipur BOP area. A list of their names and addresses was also attached. BGB then contacted their close relatives to confirm their identities.
It added that the Bangladeshis had crossed the border illegally at different times and were detained by Indian authorities. They completed varying prison terms before being sent back.
At the flag meeting, Bangladesh was represented by AC (Land) Saddam, OC Bani Israil, Acting Company Commander of BGB's Kazpiur BOP Naib Subedar Md Asabur Rahman, and four others.
On the Indian side, Assistant Commandant Sunil, company commander of Gandina camp under Battalion-11 BSF, attended the meeting with 18 colleagues.
