A nursery employee was injured in a crude bomb explosion in the capital's Jatrabari area last night.

The victim, Jewel Bepari, 40, was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 12:00am.

Hospital sources said he sustained splinter injuries to his right hand and left leg.

Officer-in-Charge of Jatrabari Police Station Kazi Ramzanul Haque said, "Around 10:10pm, someone threw a crude bomb from the Hanif Flyover. It exploded inside the nursery premises, injuring Jewel. Police are working to identify and arrest those involved."

Jewel's relative, Shakil Bepari, said a nursery fair has been ongoing in Jatrabari since May 15, and Jewel's workplace was participating in it.

"Around 10:00pm, a crude bomb suddenly fell from above and exploded in front of Jewel, causing the injuries," he said.

The OC said four others were injured in the incident.
