Yunus must resolve all issues from his position: Nahid

National Citizen Party Convener Nahid Islam today said Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus must resolve all issues, including political ones, while remaining in his position.

"Dr Yunus must uphold his promise to the people regarding reform, justice, and voting rights," wrote Nahid in a post given in his verified Facebook account.

Nahid also alleged that an effort is on to obstruct the country's democratic transition and create another 1/11-style settlement.

"Our goal is to free the politics of Bangladesh from all forms of dominance and run it independently and sovereignly. Bangladesh has repeatedly been divided and national unity has been destroyed with the aim to keep the country weak," said Nahid.

In a veiled reference to Awami League, he alleged that new blueprints are being chalked out from Delhi, since the banning of the Awami League, to create instability and divide the nation again.

"Patriotic, pro-Bangladesh, and religious students-masses must remain united in favour of sovereignty, reform, and the July uprising against fascism and hegemony. Patriotic military officers and soldiers must be ready to protect sovereignty and Bangladesh," said Nahid.

Nahid also demanded the announcement of the July Proclamation within the set timeline.

Stating that the election will be held within the declared time frame, the NCP convener said the July Charter outlining the fundamental reforms should be drafted prior to the election.

He further said that there must be visible justice for the July massacre before the election, and a roadmap for the trial must be announced.

Also, the elections to the Constituent Assembly and National Parliament must be held simultaneously for the sake of a new constitution, demanded Nahid.
