Man dies after falling unconscious while cleaning oil tank

A man died after falling unconscious inside an oil tank depot in Sitakunda, Chattogram yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Peyaru Hasan, 38.
The incident occurred around 9:30pm yesterday at the oil depot of Jalil Company, located in the Rail Gate area of Salimpur Union under Sitakunda upazila.
Following the incident, a team from Kumira Fire Service Station rescued four of the unconscious workers and transported them to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
According to the fire service, the injured workers were identified as Mir Ahmad, 28, Mohammad Arif, 29, and Mostafa Kamal, 35.
Al Mamun, an official at Kumira Fire Service Station, said one of the workers had lost consciousness due to lack of oxygen while cleaning waste inside the used oil tank. As three more workers went inside to rescue him, they too lost consciousness.
The depot authorities then informed the fire service to rescue the workers.
Nurul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police outpost at Chattogram Medical College Hospital, confirmed that the four injured workers were brought to the hospital's emergency department last night, where one of them had died during treatment.
