Ishraque supporters bring out victory rally after HC verdict on DSCC mayorship

Supporters of BNP leader Ishraque Hossain brought out a victory rally after the High Court cleared the way for him to take oath as mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation.

The rallies were brought out in Kakrail mosque area and near Matsya Bhaban, and Nagar Bhaban in the capital.

Sujon Mahmud, who participated in the victory rally, said, "This movement is no longer just about Ishraque Hossain's mayoral oath, It has evolved into something bigger. We will not leave the streets until the two advisers step down."

Earlier in the day, the High Court summarily rejected the writ petition that sought a stay on the Election Commission's decision to declare BNP-nominated candidate Ishraque Hossain as DSCC mayor.

However, Ishraque supporters still kept different roads occupied demanding resignations of Ministry of Youth and Sports and Local Government Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain and Information Adviser Mahfuj Alam.
