Elderly man with hands and feet tied found dead in his home

A 70-year-old man was found dead with his hands and feet tied in his residence in Munshiganj's Sirajdikhan upazila today.

The deceased was identified as Amir Sheikh of Abirpara village.

Being informed by locals, police recovered the body of Amir from a room on the first floor of his two-storey house around 11:30am, said Shahed Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Sirajdikhan Police Station.

His hands, feet, and mouth were found tied, said the OC.

OC Al Mamun also said they primarily suspect that the man was strangled to death. Police have started an investigation into the murder.

The body has been sent to Munshiganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy, said the OC, adding that no case has been filed yet in connection with the incident.

Locals said Amir Sheikh lived alone on the first floor of the building. He had four daughters, all of whom are married. His wife lives in Dhaka with one of their daughters.
