Netrokona boy dies after touching battery-run rickshaw being charged

A 12-year-old boy died after being electrocuted while his father's battery-run autorickshaw was being charged at his home in Netrokona's Durgapur upazila.

The incident took place around 10:30pm yesterday in Singha Charigaon Para village of Bakaljora union.

The victim Rocky was the son of Kamal Mia, a local autorickshaw driver.

According to Durgapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudul Hasan, Kamal returned home after work and was plugging in his autorickshaw for charging when Rocky accidentally touched the vehicle's metal body and got electrocuted.

Neighbours rushed in after hearing screams, disconnected the power, and took Rocky to Durgapur Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead, said the police official.

He added that legal procedures are underway.
