Mother, son electrocuted while trying to save cow

A woman and her son died from electrocution in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat yesterday morning while trying to rescue a cow during a thunderstorm.

The deceased were identified as Kamala and her son Kamal, residents of Dulali Harikhowa village in Goral union.

According to police and locals, the two died in their house while trying to save the cow belonging to the family.

According to police and local sources, the cow had taken shelter in a shed around 9:00am, where a battery-powered auto-rickshaw was being recharged. The animal was electrocuted when it came into contact with a live wire.

Kamal was reportedly electrocuted while attempting to save the cow. His mother was also electrocuted when she tried to rescue him.

No complaint had been filed over the incident as of filing this report, said Mostakim Islam, officer-in-charge of the Goral Police Investigation Centre.
