At a time when tensions are rising on the India-Pakistan border, scenes of confrontation are spreading on social media – many of which are old footage, video game clips, or pictures and videos of completely different incidents.

To sell the excitement, some local and foreign media are relying on unverified and fabricated content.

On May 7, the day of the confrontation, fact-checking firm Dismislab identified nine fake or misleading photos and videos, all of which were shared as images of the conflict.
