Rab seizes 60 Arakan Army uniforms, arrests 3 in Cox’s Bazar

The Rapid Action Battalion-15 has seized 60 sets of Arakan Army uniforms and arrested three individuals during a raid at Tetoiya ghat in Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from Rab-15's Sadar company conducted the operation yesterday around 4:30pm, arresting two women and a teenager, said Rab-15 Assistant Superintendent of Police and Assistant Director (Law & Media) AM Faruk.

The arrestees were identified as Shafika Akter, 37, and Minuara Akter, 33, of Palongkhali union, along with a 14-year-old teenager.

Another suspect, identified as Nur Mohammad, managed to escape, the Rab official said.

The authorities also confiscated Tk 35,000 in cash and four mobile phones from their possession, he added.

During interrogation, the suspects admitted to producing the uniforms under the leadership of Nur Mohammad for "militant activities", said Rab official Faruk.

"The arrested individuals have been handed over to Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station for legal proceedings," he added.
