Graft case: SC acquits Tarique, Mamun in graft case

The Supreme Court yesterday acquitted BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman and his close aide Gias Uddin Al Mamun from a money laundering case, in which they were sentenced to seven years' imprisonment by the High Court.
The apex court also scrapped the HC verdict.
A four-member bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed delivered the judgement following an appeal filed by Mamun.
The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case in October 2009 with Cantonment Police Station against Tarique and Mamun on the charge of laundering Tk 20.41 crore to Singapore between 2003 and 2007.
