From fellowship to leadership: Teach For Bangladesh celebrates 'Alumni Induction 2025'

Teach For Bangladesh hosted its Alumni Induction 2025, marking a significant milestone for the 2023 Cohort as they transitioned into the organisation's esteemed Alumni network.

The event, held at AS Mahmud Seminar Hall at The Daily Star Centre in Dhaka, celebrated the Fellows' two-year journey and reaffirmed their dedication to fostering educational equity in Bangladesh.

Under the theme "Embracing the Future, Nurturing Change," the induction was more than a ceremony -- it was a powerful call to action. Alumni were encouraged to harness their leadership potential and continue driving meaningful change beyond the classroom. The event featured keynote speeches, discussions, and reflections on the vital role of alumni in building a more inclusive education system.

Among the notable speakers, Sujan Daring, senior manager of Alumni Impact at TFB, highlighted the significance of this transition, saying, "This is not an easy journey to become an alumnus. Induction marks a beginning, not an end. Today, we rethink our purpose to ensure equal opportunities for all students."

Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, education officer (Training Division) at the Directorate of Primary Education, urged alumni to persevere, saying, "Make a hundred mistakes, but never stop trying. Education is an area of the mind -- shape it to be the best version of yourself."

Adding to the inspiration, Shoaib Alam, regional director of Network Engagement (Asia Pacific) at Teach For All, underscored the power of youth-driven movements, while Teach For Bangladesh CEO Munia Islam Mozumder welcomed the new Alumni, stressing their collective responsibility in driving systemic change.

The event also featured a panel discussion, where Alumni from ATEC Global, BRAC, 10 Minute School, and the Government of Bangladesh shared insights on leveraging their Fellowship experience in diverse career paths.

The induction concluded with a pledge-taking ceremony led by Tajnin Noor Hanna, deputy manager, Recruitment and Youth Mobilisation at TFB, solidifying the Alumni's lifelong commitment to ensuring educational equity.

With 52 new inductees, Teach For Bangladesh now boasts a thriving Alumni community of 343 changemakers, dedicated to transforming education and society.

"Teach For Bangladesh (TFB) envisions a society in which all children receive an excellent education that empowers them to realise their full potential and shape their own future through talent and hard work. We are working with students, communities, and young leaders to build an education system that places the inherent power, dignity, and worthiness of all children at the centre," the recent press release said.

"Teach For Bangladesh is passionate about bringing change in the education system of Bangladesh in two ways. First, through Teach For Bangladesh's flagship 2 years Fellowship Programme our Fellows begin as highly skilled teachers ensuring proper learning opportunities for children in vulnerable communities. After completing this two-year programme they become the Alumni of Teach For Bangladesh. And then, as Alumni, they continue to drive change in education towards our vision for an equitable society. Teach For Bangladesh is also a partner of Teach For All, a global network of 60+ independent partner organisations, and an organisation that works to accelerate the network's progress," it added.
