Narail now connected to national railway network via Padma Bridge

The much-anticipated railway service from Narail began for the first time today, ushering in a new era of connectivity and excitement for the people of the district.
The newly launched Jahanabad Express from Khulna reached Narail Railway Station at 7:35am. The train connects Khulna to Dhaka via the Padma Bridge, significantly reducing the travel time. The train departed Khulna at 6:00am and reached Narail 95 minutes later, before heading to Dhaka, according to Narail Railway Station officials.
The first day witnessed a crowd of passengers and onlookers who were eager to see this historic moment. Despite the jubilant atmosphere, there was a severe shortage of tickets, leaving many hopeful travellers disappointed.
People from all walks of life, including students, professionals, and families, flocked to the station from dawn to celebrate the occasion of the train's inaugural journey.
Similarly, another train departed Dhaka at 8:00am, with a stoppage at Narail from where it will go to Khulna.
Meanwhile, the Ruposhi Bangla Express started its journey from Benapole, passing through Narail Railway Station on its way to Dhaka at 3:30pm. It is scheduled to return to Benapole from Dhaka at 10:45pm.
The inauguration of this railway link marks a significant milestone for Narail, promising to transform connectivity and boost economic activities.

Uzair Ali, a local resident and headmaster of Narail Collectorate School, shared his excitement and said, "Finally, Narail is connected to the national railway network. This will greatly ease travelling to Dhaka, Khulna, Jashore and Benapole."
Another resident of Amada village in Lohagora, Palash Mridha said, "A huge crowd gathered at the station and I couldn't get a ticket. Even standing tickets were unavailable. Still, I'm thrilled that the railway journey from Narail has begun."
The introduction of the Padma Bridge rail line has cut the travel distance between Dhaka and Khulna by 212 kilometres, enabling passengers to reach Khulna from Dhaka in just four hours. The travellers from Narail can now reach Dhaka in two hours.
Station Master Ujjal Biswas confirmed that two trains -- Jahanabad Express for the Dhaka-Khulna route and Ruposhi Bangla Express for the Dhaka-Benapole route -- will operate regularly, offering new opportunities for the people of Narail and beyond.
