BNP Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain yesterday said a favourable environment for a free and fair election has not created as former premier and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is yet to be freed.
He said the BNP would take part in dialogue and parliament election if the necessary environment is created in this regard.
“There are only three months left for holding the parliamentary election according to the electoral roadmap, but we are yet to see that favourable environment,” he added.
Delwar was talking to reporters after saying Juma prayers at the High Court Mazar mosque in the city.
Milad and doa mahfil were also arranged at the High Court Mazar mosque to express gratitude to Almighty Allah for the release of Tarique Rahman.
Prayer was also offered for Tarique's recovery and the release of Khaleda Zia.
Asked about the participation in the Election Commission's dialogue, Delwar said, "We will take decision in this regard on September 7."
“I don't think that a satisfactory environment has been created for dialogue and elections despite the release of Tarique," he said.
Khaleda's release a must to create favourable environment for dialogue and election," he added.
