Consular Corps gets new body

Reshadur Rahman selected as president, Shams Mahmud elected as secretary general

Reshadur Rahman, honorary consul general of the Republic of Poland, and Shams Mahmud, honorary consul of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, were respectively made the president and the secretary general of the Consular Corps in Bangladesh (CCB) for the 2023-2025 years.

The CCB executive committee were formed at its 14th annual general meeting today, says a press release.

Md Amiruzzaman, honorary consul general of Republic of Seychelles, and M Shoeb Chowdhury, honorary consul of Republic of Malta in Dhaka, were selected as vice-presidents, while Zulfikar Ali, honorary consul of the Republic of Guatemala, was elected as the treasure.

The executive committee members include Solaiman Alam Seth, honorary consul of the Republic of South Africa; Nasreen Zamir, honorary consul of Luxembourg; Mohammed Taneem Hassan, honorary consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Syed Farhad Ahmed, honorary consul of the Republic of Estonia; and Riad Mahmud, honorary consul, consulate of Georgia in Bangladesh.

Neaz Ahmed, honorary consul of New Zealand, is the immediate past president of the CCB.

Reshadur Rahman is a director and former chairman of Dhaka Bank Ltd and DBL Securities Limited and also the chairman of RR Group and Trade Hub Bangladesh Ltd. Besides business, he is involved in many social and philanthropic activities in home and abroad.

Shams Mahmud is the managing director of Shasha Denims Ltd, president of Bangladesh Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and vice president of the Bangladesh-Philippines Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BPCCI).
