Asst prof of Bogura’s Azizul Haque College arrested for “raping student”

Police have arrested an assistant professor of Bogura's Government Azizul Haque College on charges of raping, threatening and beating up a student.

The victim filed a rape case against the teacher with Bogura Sadar Police Station last night (November 1, 2022), Noor-e-Alam Siddiqui, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station, told our local correspondent this morning (November 2, 2022).

According to the case statement, around 3-4 years ago, the student used to take private tuitions from the accused teacher. At that time, a relationship developed between them. The teacher took some personal photos and videos of the student on his mobile. Later, he raped her threatening that he would disclose the photos and videos.

The student became pregnant a few days ago. After the accused came to know the matter, he threatened to abort the child, the statement said.

The student claimed that on the afternoon of October 31, the teacher called her to a restaurant in the city's Jaleshwaritala area and beat her up.

OC Noor-e-Alam Siddique said, "The accused teacher was arrested after the rape case was filed. He will be sent to court later in the day."
