Lochte smashes his own record

American Ryan Lochte smashed his own world record in the 100m individual medley on the final day of the World Short-Course Swimming Championships in Manchester on Sunday.
Lochte had posted a world best 51.25 seconds qualifying for the final on Saturday. But the United States swimmer went even better in a thrilling final as he clinched gold in a time of 51.15.
Slovakia's Peter Mankoc took silver in 52.21 while Great Britain's Liam Tancock thrilled the home crowd by snatching silver in 52.22.
It was a stunning response by Lochte, who earlier had to make do with silver in the final of the 200m backstroke.
