18 hurt in lightning strike at Manikganj playground

At least 18 people were injured as lightning strike hit a playground in Manikganj Sadar upazila this (July 15) afternoon.
The incident happened at Jagir Union Parishad field in the upazila around 4:30pm when a game of Yusuf Ali Gold Cup tournament was about to begin, reports our Manikganj correspondent quoting Sajib Hossain, one of the injured.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The injured were taken to Manikganj district hospital where two have been admitted in critical condition while the others are being given primary treatment, said Dr Syeda Shamima Akhter of the hospital's emergency unit.
Some of the injured had burns in their body while several having difficulty hearing, she added.
