Fake documents for police clearance: 3 arrested in Dhaka

Police have arrested three persons on charge of making fake documents to obtain police clearance for passports.
The accused are Md Masud Mia (48), Md Kamal Hossain (48) and Md Golam Kibria (53), Abdul Ahad, deputy commissioner of Motijheel Division Police, said in a press briefing today.
They were arrested from Dhaka's Farmgate, Khilkhet and Keraniganj areas yesterday (May 31, 2022).
The arrests were made after Dhaka Metropolitan Police conducted an investigation on addresses found to be fake during verification of online applications under Paltan Model Police Station.
A case was filed against the three.
According to Abdul Ahad, on April 20, 2022, Masud – accused in several cases filed in Narsingdi – made an agreement of Tk 30,000 with Kamal and gave his passport.
Kamal signed another deal of Tk 28,000 with another accused Md Golam Kibria and gave Masud's passport to him. Then, the accused used an address under the jurisdiction of Paltan Model Police Station.
The accused applied online with the attachment of a fake certificate showing forged signature of the area's ward councillor for changing his address in the passport, the release said.
During primary interrogation, the three accused admitted to their crime, the release added.
