One drown, 2 missing after Holi celebrations

A schoolboy drowned and two others went missing after they went to bathe in the Jamuna and Fuljor rivers in Sirajganj on Friday.

Rescuers of Fire Service recovered the body of Sonjit Kormokar, 16, on Friday evening. An operation was underway to find out Sokal Sutra Dhar, 15, and Shuvo Chandra, 15.

The three, all tenth graders, went to bathe in the rivers after attending "Dol" festival. They did not know how to swim.

Md Shohidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Raiganj Police Station in Sirajganj, confirmed this to The Daily Star.

Diren Sutra Dhar, grandfather of Sokal Sutra Dhar, said his grandson along with a few other children went to the river to bathe without informing family members. He went missing since then.
