Mirpur hospital fire under control

The fire, which broke out at a Mirpur hospital in the capital this evening, has been brought under control.

The fire originated on the ninth floor of the 14-storey Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) hospital at Mirpur-14 at 6:15pm, said Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarter sources.

Seven units of firefighters brought the fire under control after half an hour of their effort, Mazharul Haque, deputy general manager of CRP Mirpur section, told The Daily Star.

No patient was staying at the ninth floor of the hospital building as a NGO has rented it, he added.

He however could not ascertain the causalities and damages of the blaze immediately.
