Police today arrested two people including the prime accused in a case filed for killing a woman and her teenage daughter at Agrabad in Chittagong city two days ago.

Detective Branch of police arrested the main accused, Raihan, from Malibagh in the capital early today.

According to his statement, police arrested his friend Shaheed from Khulshi area in the port city.

Rezia Khatun, 47, wife of C&F agent Rezaul Karim, and their daughter Sayma Nazneen Nishat, an SSC examinee, were found stabbed to death at their rented residence, Padma Bhaban, in Agrabad CDA residential area on Monday morning.

Later, Rezaul filed the murder case.

The victims' family said Raihan had proposed to Nishat few days back. Being refused, he later went to their house to convince the family, but Nishat's brother Saif Reza rebuked him. Saif said Raihan was behind the killing to take revenge.

Earlier, police arrested a caretaker and a security guard of the building in connection with the murder.
