Reflecting upon the legacy of Rabindranath Tagore

Today marks the 80th death anniversary of Bengali poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer, and painter Rabindranath Tagore. The Nobel Laureate continues to inspire generations, years after his demise. On this day, young and promising Rabindra Sangeet practitioners reflect upon his legacy, and his impact on their lives.

My interest in Rabindra Sangeet grew from an early age, as both my parents were singers. Inspired by my mami, singer Mita Haque, I decided to explore different facets of Tagore, through his songs, poems, novels, and plays.
I deeply admire Tagore's efforts to explore new things in his creations. Be it through the integration of foreign cultures, or trying to invent new facets of Bengali literature with unexplored themes, he was always eager to embrace newness. I always try to discover new ways of looking at things, following Tagore's footsteps.

Rabindranath Tagore's philosophies were introduced to me by my musical guru Prodip Das. Over the years, I learned more about his amazing creations.
