Dozens of drivers in Dhaka's Sayedabad bus terminal left their buses, leaving passengers on board stranded, after a BRTA (Bangladesh Road Transport Authority) mobile court appeared today.

The mobile court was being conducted based on allegations of exorbitant bus fare and carrying more passengers than the permitted limit.

Fokhrul Islam, executive magistrate of BRTA, told The Daily Star that they were conducting mobile courts to ensure that passengers don't suffer during their Eid journey.

"The drivers left the scene, keeping passengers in the bus. We will not leave the spot until discipline is ensured", he added.

People bound for Cumilla, Chandpur, Feni, and Chattogram were seen stranded as bus service was halted from 10:30 am.
