12-year-old dies after wall collapses on her in Dhaka's Mirpur

A twelve-year-old girl died at hospital early today, hours after a boundary wall collapsed on her in Dhaka Mirpur area yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Nazma Akter, a resident of Kazipara area.

Mobarak Hossain, uncle of the deceased, said part of an old boundary wall of a four-storey building collapsed on her as she was passing by the area last evening.

With critical injuries, the girl was first taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. As her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she breathed her last around 3:00am, he said.

Hailing from Netrakona district, Nazma used to live with her family in the area. Daughter of a rickshaw puller, she was the second among four siblings.

The body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy, Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
