MC College gang-rape: Nat'l University suspends four accused students

The authorities of National University have suspended four students who are accused in a case filed over the gang rape of a woman at Murari Chand (MC) College in Sylhet.
The decision was taken during a syndicate meeting of the National University yesterday, said a press release issued today.
The four accused students are Saifur Rahman, an irregular student of BSS Pass Course; Shah Md Mahbubur Rahman Roni, masters final year student of the English department; Robiul Islam, a student of BSS Pass Course; and Mahfuzur Rahman, masters final year student of the English department.
The syndicate members condemned and protested the gang rape incident that took place at MC College on September 25.
The members also urged the authorities to take necessary steps so that such incidents do not happen in the future, the release said.
The meeting was presided over by the university's Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Harun-Or-Rashid.
