Murder of Stepson: Woman jailed for 20yrs

A Chapainawabganj court yesterday sentenced a woman to 20 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for killing her stepson in 2018.

The convict is Rozina Khatun alias Khadiza, 30, wife of Abdur Rahim of Haripur Miapara area under Chapainawabganj municipality.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Shawkat Ali also fined the convict Tk 20,000. In default, she is to suffer six months more in prison.

According to the case statement, Khadiza strangled her eight-year-old stepson Reduan at her house and dumped the body in a nearby field on October 7 in 2018.

Being informed, police recovered Reduan’s body the same night.

The following day, police arrested Khadiza from her house, after Rahim filed a murder case with Sadar Police Station accusing her the same day.

After investigation, Inspector Idrish Ali, also investigation officer of the case, submitted charge sheet against Khadiza on December 31 the same year.
