5 burned by live wire

Five people sustained burn injuries as they came in contact with a live wire at a warehouse in Patiya upazila of Chattogram yesterday.

The injured are Abu Syed, Abdur Rahim, Md Saker, Md Sajjad and Md Ali, said police. They are being treated at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Rahim, caretaker of the warehouse of LP gas cylinders, came in contact with an electric wire around 10am, said Borhan Uddin, officer-in-charge of Patiya Police Station. The others also sustained burn injuries while trying to rescue him, the OC added, quoting witnesses.

Locals took them to the hospital, said Assistant Sub-inspector Alauddin Talukder of CMCH police camp.

Rahim’s condition is critical as he sustained 65 percent burns, he said quoting doctors.
