3.5kg gold seized in Benapole, 3 held

Border Guard Bangladesh detained two men and a woman with gold bars weighing about 3.5 kg in separate drives in Benapole yesterday.

Rabiul Islam, 36, Dilip Kumar, 30, and Minara Khatun, 25, had been smuggling gold into India for a long time, officials said.

Deputy Commanding Officer Maj Nazrul Islam said a BGB team conducted a drive in Amrakhali, Ghia, and Daulatpur areas and arrested them.

The seized gold is worth Tk 1.75 crore, officers said.

The detainees were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
